natural elements

My artwork is mostly inspired by my childhood memories in France, when my grandfather would take my siblings and me to the forest. When I was a little girl, I climbed one of my grandfather’s poplars and sat on one of its branches. There, I would read books and dream about faraway places and isolated lighthouses. It was a sensuous connection as much as it was a sensorial one. When I am among trees, I feel the urge to touch their bark, smell their leaves, and feel their ribs. With my hands, I love to explore nature to find out its shapes and external structure. Pleasure and sensuality are key elements in developing a personal bond with natural habitats, and these are sensations I experience when I hear the cracking sound of paper as I poke the holes that distinguish my artwork.

It’s our responsibility as human beings not only to protect our terrestrial house, but also to understand that natural elements are sentient beings that we can love, learn from, and respect.
